Dr Catharina James is a scientist and entrepreneur who pairs her background in Chemistry and Materials Science (MSc, PhD, University of Cambridge) with a proven ability to commercialise breakthrough technologies. She co-founded two Cambridge start-ups, led the development of world-leading nanomaterials production facilities, and has guided both corporations and start-ups on scaling operations and innovation strategy. A passionate science communicator, she has delivered a TEDx talk on carbon nanomaterials and thrives when translating complex research into accessible insights for diverse audiences. Currently transitioning into the biosciences, her independent research focuses on sex-based differences in pharmacology and addressing the historic underrepresentation of women in clinical research.
