Catherine Webb joined Emmanuel College as Bursar in February 2023. She studied Economics at Emmanuel from 1997 to 2000 with a particular interest in applying economic theory to solve public policy problems. Catherine joined the Civil Service in 2000 as a member of the Government Economic Service, and performed a number of roles including as Counsellor of Economic and Trade Policy in Beijing and as the Director responsible for securing the UK’s future economic relationship with the EU. From 2019 to 2023, Catherine was Director of Operations for the Treasury and a member of the Treasury Board. In 2021 she was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath, in recognition of her public service.
