Landfill Gas Policy Lead, Department for Energy Security & Net Zero

Jialong Ying is the Landfill Gas Policy Lead at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). In this role, he is responsible for leading DESNZ’s work in exploring potential options to support landfill gas generators. He has a particular interest in the design of energy markets and how subsidy schemes can be effectively implemented in real world policy and contracts.

Prior to his current role, Jialong was part of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) Policy Team, where he was involved in developing repowering policy, and exploring alternative allocation mechanisms for the CfD. He holds a BCL from the University of Oxford and an LLB from King’s College London.
