Dr Nomisha Kurian, Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick; and Associate Fellow, Cambridge Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence

Nomisha is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick, researching how AI impacts children's development and how it can better support young people's learning, safety, and wellbeing. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where her thesis examined child wellbeing and the role of supportive teacher-child relationships. On the topic of child-safe AI, she has advised the UK Government's Open Innovation Team to inform the Department for Education's generative AI safety standards, advised UNICEF's AI Governance Panel, and leading child safety nonprofits such as NSPCC and Internet Matters. She has received the University of Cambridge Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Social Impact and the Cambridge Applied Research Award. Previously, as a Yale University Henry Fellow, she researched child rights law. Her work has most recently been published in the International Journal of Child-Computer Interaction, Learning, Media and Technology and ACM CUI.
