Professor Ronan Daly is Professor of Advanced Manufacturing in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, where he leads the Fluids in Advanced Manufacturing (FIAM) research group within the Institute for Manufacturing. His work focuses on fundamental research into fluids, interfaces, biomaterials, nanomaterials and chemical systems to advance device technologies and sustainable manufacturing techniques, with applications spanning healthcare, agri-tech and additive manufacturing. Professor Daly’s research emphasises affordability, accessibility and environmental sustainability, pioneering scalable solutions that link fundamental science with real-world industrial challenges. Prior to his academic career, he worked in R&D at Unilever and holds a PhD in Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin. In addition to his research and teaching — including contributions to the Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Triposes — he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Fellow of Churchill College, and a member of the Institute of Physics.
