Sonia Ilie is Professor of Education at the Faculty of Education University of Cambridge. Her research addresses inequalities in education, looking at the intersection of social and personal factors which shape children’s and young people’s access to, and outcomes from, education. Her work focuses on progression through education and into higher education, building evidence about what is effective in supporting fairer higher education access, widening participation to higher education, and better learning in schools, using longitudinal, large-scale experimental, and quasi-experimental research designs.
